Mickelson takes his third green jacket at Augusta 2010 Masters

With his wife Amy and family waiting to greet Phil Mickelson at the 18th hole, this was a day to recognise both of their achievements, his triumphant challenge at the 2010 Masters and her battle against breast cancer and led to an emotional celebration.

"I normally don't shed tears over wins,'' Mickelson said, his eyes watering. "When Amy and I hugged off 18, that was a very emotional moment for us. I'll cherish every moment of this week.''

"She didn't feel well and she doesn't have energy,'' her husband said. "To have her here and share this moment and share the joy of winning on 18, and to share this with my kids, is something that we'll look back on the rest of our lives.''

With this his third victory at the Augusta Masters he has sealed his place in golfing history, along side Nicklaus, Palmer, Watson, Woods, Player and the others who won multiple Grand Slam tournaments.

This success has not gone unnoticed, with all the tabloid interest in the return of Tiger Woods generating record audinece ratings for the masters.

Woods himself played well considering the time he has been laid off and despite a couple of uncharacteristc lapses of concentration in the final round he only finished just four strokes off Mickelson in fourth place.
