Adam Wright Davis - Accounts

 I have been working within the Finance Department for Marcus Evans Group since August 2007.  Having worked in a number of different finance departments for other companies, I was eager to take the opportunity to work for a large company with a global reputation, therefore I relocated and took this opportunity with both hands.

Ever since starting out in finance back in 2004, I have always been enthusiastic to learn more about
accounting practice and have been lucky enough to gain valuable experience in the companies I have
worked for.  No more than here at the Marcus Evans Group, where I have learnt
countless new skills and have been given the opportunity to study for my accounting qualifications. 
Having done this, I have been able to take on more responsibilities within the team and have been
rewarded for this.  This is very typical of the company’s ethos,  they are very keen for all their
staff to learn as many new skills as possible, which in the long run is beneficial for both parties.

In my position I am involved with a wide variety of accounting processes and each day is completely
different.  However, my main responsibility is to maintain a good relationship with our suppliers,
from those who supply us with stationary to speakers and trainers who help make our conferences
and training events a success.   I am also heavily involved with day to day accounting practice, such
as cash management, reconciliation of ledgers and bank accounts and financial reporting.

Overall, the combination of working within a great team and the diversity of tasks I get to undertake
on a daily basis have made my time here very rewarding.  Importantly I have been able to pick up an
array of skills that I wouldn’t be able to learn from a manual or book and I look forward to new challenges in the future.
