Firms must publish gender pay gap
From next year, UK firms will need to disclose the difference in earnings between men and women as the government aims to close the gender pay gap.
The move, which will affect companies with 150 or more employees, is likely to be brought in under the forthcoming Equality Act.
It comes as the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) revealed that male managers are still paid an average of £10,000 more than their female counterparts. They add that it will take nearly 60 (57) years to rectify this at current rates.
However, it appears that the government has abandoned plans drawn up by Labour when they were in power, which would have compelled private-sector firms to disclose diversity stats if the bid for public-sector contracts.
