"Gongs and nominations roll in for actors from Ken McReddie (a marcus evans entertainment co.)"

bushThe acting world celebrates Diane Kruger, Emily Blunt, Dame Helen Mirren, Aneurin Barnard and Christian McKay

Two films which scooped Oscars at the 2010 Academy Awards featured actors signed to the Ken McReddie Associates agency.

Diane Kruger appeared in Inglourious Basterds, for which Christoph Waltz picked up a ‘Best Supporting Actor’ award. Diana’s character, Bridget von Hammersmark, had the dubious honour of being choked to death by Waltz’s character, the sinister Nazi officer Hans Landa. The nail-biting scene in which she helps to lure a group of drunken German soldiers to their deaths in a basement bar has already gone down in cinema lore as one of the most gripping multi-actor storylines ever made, winning the Broadcast Film Critics Choice Award for ‘Best Acting Ensemble’.

Meanwhile, the ‘Best Costumes’ Oscar went to The Young Victoria, which stars Ken McReddie Associates actress Emily Blunt. This beautifully-produced period film scooped the equivalent award at the 2010 BAFTAs in London.

Dame Helen Mirren just missed out this time in the ‘Best Actress’ category at the Oscars, for her performance in The Last Station, although she won in the same category at the 2009 Rome International Film Festival.

Elsewhere, Aneurin Barnard, who only graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2008, has been nominated for an Olivier Award for ‘Best Actor in a Musical’. The nomination recognises his astonishingly mature performance in the musical Spring Awakening at London’s Lyric Theatre. Christian McKay was nominated for a BAFTA for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his performance as Orson Welles in the feature film Me and Orson Welles, directed by Richard Linklater.
