More IT vulnerability disclosures
Record numbers of firms admitted vulnerability in their software over the first half of 2010, according to a new report.
IBM's X-Force security team discovered that there were more than 4,000 (4,396) disclosed software weaknesses for the period between January and the end of June – up 35 per cent on the same time last year.
However, X-Force manager Tom Cross notes that "throughout the software industry people have got the message about computer security and are doing more to identify vulnerabilities and as a consequence we are seeing more."
Worryingly though, more than half of the issues still have had no patch released to rectify them.
Google has been the worst offender, with a third of their important flaws still unpatched.
