ITFC CEO takes part in Olympic torch relay

Ipswich Town Football Club (ITFC) CEO Simon Clegg took part in the Olympic torch relay in Keswick in the Lake District last week.

The former British Olympic Association Chief Executive (1997-2008), Simon Clegg led the campaign to bring the Games to London in 2012.

Simon Clegg has managed Team GB athletes at 12 Olympic and Olympic Winter Games, bringing the team to fourth place in the Beijing Olympic medal table. He has been the marcus evans owned ITFC's CEO since 2009.

With just a month left until the London Olympics opening ceremony, the Olympic Flame is continuing its journey through over 1000 towns and villages in the UK and is set to reach the Olympic Stadium on July 27. The Olympic Flame was lit in Greece, at the home of the home of the Ancient Games, and it stands for peace, unity and friendship.

"This was a particularly special almost spiritual experience for me. The Olympic Flame is highly symbolic and I'm proud that the project that we started in 1997 has brought communities together throughout the UK to celebrate this once in a generation experience," Simon Clegg commented.
